Research Summary
This study proposes a regeneration strategy for Dongincheon Station and its surrounding area, once the center of Incheon but subsequently affected by urban decline and poorly planned private station development. The plan seeks to reconnect communities divided by the railway and use railway-edge land more efficiently through a three-dimensional transfer system.
It also aims to improve passenger accessibility while restoring and utilizing the existing local commercial district. The study argues that a station should be planned not merely as a transport facility or commercial development but as an integrated regeneration hub connecting transfers, land use, neighborhood commerce, and local communities, thereby supporting the recovery of the old city center.
